Regional Managing Director
With 25 Years of residential development experience working in both technical and land buying functions, Robin has a very broad knowledge base of all aspects of the development process. He worked for architects and PLC house builders in Bristol before joining Acorn’s South West office in 2007 as Development Director. After 5 years working in Cornwall with Acorn Blue, Robin has returned to Bristol to head up Acorn Bristol.
Dave Gittins BSc (Hons)
Head of Construction
Prior to Acorn, Dave worked for 3 years as Assistant Site Manager for Vinci Construction PLC. He joined the Acorn Blue team in the South West as Project Manager in March 2010 and relocated to Acorn’s Bristol Office at the end of 2013 after being promoted to Regional Construction Manager. To progress his career he recently completed and graduated with a degree in Building Surveying through The College of Estate Management. Dave works closely consultants and contractors to deliver high quality projects on time and within budget.
Mark Jensen BAppSc
Mark has 20 years commercial management experience in the construction and development sectors including residential, commercial, industrial and refurbishment projects both in the UK and abroad.
Mark leads land acquisition and pre-construction commercial undertakings from project feasibility estimates to detailed cost planning throughout the planning and design development processes including project risk analysis, logistics and programming, value engineering and due diligence assessments. He provides ongoing continuity of all commercial functions through the construction phase with main and sub-contract procurement, supply agreements, contract negotiation and administration, and final accounting.
Ed Lewis BSc (Hons) MSc
Ed has been working in residential development for over a decade and joins Acorn from Persimmon Homes. Ed has experience of acquiring a broad range of sites from rural exceptions sites for 100% affordable housing at one end of the scale to large mixed-use allocations for sites in excess of 4000 houses at the other end. Ed has previously worked for Redrow Homes as well as for regional residential developers and brings with him a thorough understanding of land acquisition and the nuances of the planning world.
Amy Hitchings BSc (Hons)MRICS
Amy brings extensive residential development experience having started her career in London, managing key development sites for Berkeley Homes. Alongside qualifying as a Planning and Development Chartered Surveyor, she secured key planning permissions for major developments and acquired new land opportunities, specialising in brownfield sites. At Acorn, she will actively seek new land opportunities, to help the Company’s continuous growth, and manage key regeneration sites.
Darren has worked in construction on the contracting side for 25 years, having started out as a site engineer. As a project manager for a national construction company, he has delivered diverse commercial projects including a factory, school and hospital. Prior to joining the Acorn team, Darren has spent the last 3 years working on tenders looking at the opportunities within the tender design, and using his experience to develop the design and to deliver the scheme within the available budget.
Harry Sedman MRTPI
Harry is a chartered Town Planner and has worked in planning and design consultancy since 2010. His expertise lies in undertaking detailed land and building appraisals followed by adopting a project management role, post acquisition of a site. Harry has overseen and managed a wide range of residential projects across the South West through to successful outcomes. He joins Acorn as Development Manager assisting delivery across all stages of the development process.
Kelly Brown LLB GradDip MRICS
Prior to Acorn, Kelly worked for 8 years at a multinational construction and development company where most recently she was involved in the establishment of the Project Development business. Leading the opportunities, acquisitions and developments in Bristol as Development Manager, she gained great experience working on prestigious and award winning developments in the region. Kelly has strong knowledge in all aspects of development including appraisals, acquisition, planning and construction and joins Acorn as the Project Manager of Hope House in Bath.
Amy Scammell BSc (Hons) Property Development
Amy joined the Bristol team with a strong background in property, graduating from The University of Portsmouth with a degree in Property Development. Amy’s role is to assist in all parts of the development process including assessing the profitability of land opportunities and working alongside Robin, Dave and Duncan to ensure the successful delivery of a project.
Tom Dickason-Palmer BA (Hons) Architecture
Assistant Construction Manager
Tom joined Acorn Bristol as Assistant Construction Manager having recently graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Architecture (BA Hons) (RIBA/ARB validated). Tom supports the working relationships with architects, main contractors and key construction suppliers with the aim of maintaining and enhancing the high standard of construction Acorn present across all developments whilst delivering construction and design support.
Regional Sales Manager
Bernice has over 18 years experience within the housebuilding industry and her 22 years of sales experience coupled with her determination to succeed has seen her achieve a successful career. Having worked with national PLC house builders and a host of well-known brands previously, Bernice works closely with Acorn’s bespoke product to deliver the company’s individuality in design and attention to detail direct to the new home owner.
Field Sales Manager
Having joined Acorn from a national PLC house builder Charlotte has a strong background in property sales especially in the Bristol and Somerset area. Charlotte’s role is to liaise with estate agents and the sales team to ensure the high quality homes, developments and the brand are promoted well.
Tom joined Acorn Blue in August 2014 as a Junior Sales Negotiator. After three years in Cornwall he has moved back to his home area where he will be the sales representative for our new sites in and around South Devon. As a Sales Negotiator he has the first interaction with prospective buyers; enjoying meeting and helping them select their dream new home.
Hannah joined Acorn from a National PLC house builder. With an extensive knowledge of the new build sales process, Hannah’s role is to liaise with solicitors on the legal set up of upcoming developments and to over see all sales through to exchange and legal completion.
Danica Clements BA (Hons)
Group Marketing Manager
Danica was introduced to the property industry when she was studying Marketing at university and completed a years work experience at a national housebuilder. Since graduation, Danica has gained experience working for a large PLC housebuilder and a custom build housing developer. Her role is to manage the marketing for the Group, build up awareness for current and future developments and generate leads for active developments.
Francesca Kite BA (Hons)
Group Marketing Coordinator
Francesca joins the Acorn team with a degree in Marketing Communications and professional qualification with the IDM in Direct and Digital Marketing. With previous marketing experience in product and brand management, as well as PR, brochure production and website creation. Francesca also has experience in creating various forms of content across multiple channels as part of integrated marketing campaigns to increase brand awareness. Francesca will be working alongside Danica and Amanda on marketing requirements across the Acorn group.
Amanda Norman BSc (Hons)
Group Marketing Coordinator
Amanda joined Acorn Blue in 2012 having worked in the South West residential new homes department for Knight Frank. Previously working for Nicola as her PA she has now moved to the marketing department. Amanda’s role includes coordinating the content on all Acorn websites, marketing the developments on the website, internet portals such as Rightmove, local newspaper advertising, editorial, social media and e-newsletters.
Laura joined the Bristol team with an established background in property. After graduating from The University of Portsmouth with a degree in Property Development, she then went on to work in estate agency and for a large PLC. Following a break from the industry, Laura’s role is to manage the day to day running of the Bristol office and to assist Robin and the team in a variety of tasks.
With over 30 years in the construction industry from working on site to managing his own building company and within both the private and public sector, Richard brings a wealth of experience to the Acorn Bristol team. Richard is responsible for the hand over of each property to new owners and dealing with any queries or questions they may have about their new home.

Chairman and Founder
Romy worked as an estate agent in central London for many years prior to forming Acorn in the early 1990s and managed development projects, funding and sales at Acorn directly for many years until the team expanded. Romy now acts as Chairman for the Group and oversees development design, group management and expansion and acts as Chairman of all the Directors.
Group Operations Director and Founder
John originally studied Building Surveying at London South Bank prior to forming his own construction company and then moving into property development where he has worked for the last 30 years. John heads the acquisition team nationally and the vast majority of the groups joint ventures both with landowners and other developers. He has extensive knowledge of all kinds of developments ranging from refurbishments, single luxury units, multi storey residential blocks, commercial properties and multi phased regeneration projects.
Group Managing Director and Funding Director
Melanie has been working at Acorn for over 10 years. She has combined her previous experience in estate agency and banking to form her primary role to procure and manage funding for all site purchases and their development. In addition to this she has managed new projects from their inception through to sales of the end product.
Duncan Rothwell MRICS MCIOB
Commercial Director and Group Quantity Surveyor
Duncan has 30 years experience on a wide variety of building and civil engineering projects, (domestic, commercial, industrial, both UK and overseas). Duncan prepares construction cost plans from feasibility to post contract stages. He liaises with consultants and authorities, advises on procurement options, contract amendments, warranties and guarantee’s, tender selection, appraisals and the appointment of the contractor. Duncan oversees the preparation of all contract documents, valuations, funders, bank draw downs and agrees final accounts. Additionally, he advises on contractual matters, value engineering options, risk alternatives and project management.
Duncan Powell BSc (Hons) MRTPI
Group Planning Director
Duncan assists Acorn’s land teams, based in Bristol, Cornwall and Cardiff, with an existing portfolio and to look for new strategic land opportunities in all regions. With extensive experience of planning consultancy in the South West, in particular the Bristol region, Duncan provides invaluable planning advice on acquisitions and steers Acorn’s proposals through the planning system.
Julian Hampson BA (Hons) DipArch RIBA
Group Design Director
Julian has been a qualified Architect for over 25 years and has extensive experience in urban design and regeneration as well as in residential development. He has worked with a number of high profile architects and urban designers as well as working for several leading residential developers. He was Chief Architect for Goldcrest Land from 2004-2007 and for Fairview Homes from 2007-2011 leading their design departments. Having worked on both the ‘client’ and ‘design’ sides he understands the benefits that the right combination of design and investment can bring to an area.
Rena Makwana-Mistri BA (Hons) Interior Design
Group Interior Designer
Before joining Acorn, Rena undertook a variety of projects in the fields of both residential and commercial property for bespoke, individual projects and large scale development. Rena captures the essence and trend of a development’s surroundings through the medium of design. Rena carefully considers every aspect and detail of the design, ensuring each specification is unique to the development and meets the demands and aspirations of the buyer. Whilst at Acorn, Rena has successfully designed award winning interiors and continues to be inspired by the individuality of each Acorn development.
Dane Cummings BSc (Hons) MRICS
Head of Commercial Property
Based in the London Head Office and a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), Dane has many years of experience working with Acorn Property Group. Dane’s experience started in acquisitions and disposals which soon saw him moving in to property management of the residential sector. Dane’s knowledge, drive and enthusiasm has lead him to head up commercial property throughout the Acorn portfolio across the South of the UK managing commercial units for sale or to let in some of Britain’s most prime waterfront and city locations.
Group PR Coordinator
Sam has over 20 years experience as an internal and external communications professional working predominantly for global corporations. Working with the communications and marketing team Sam’s role at Acorn is to carry out Public Relations activities whilst increasing brand awareness. Sam’s strengths are building and developing relationships with consumer media.
